Coronavirus Covid-19 Protection

At St Peter’s Court we understand that during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic there are going to be difficult and challenging times for individuals and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during these demanding times.

We continue to take guidance from the Government and Public Health England, and have answered several key questions, that you may find informative. We will continue to post updates to our website once we receive further guidance from the appropriate bodies.

Can I visit my relative?

Our top priority at St Peter’s Court is to keep our resident’s safe and do all that we can to minimise the risk of infection from Coronavirus (COVID-19).  We monitor the current situation on a regular basis.  Whilst restrictions have started to be lifted as of 11th May, we have made the difficult decision to remain closed to visitors at this time, until we receive the appropriate guidance from the government that it is safe to do so. We appreciate that this decision will disappoint relatives, however, pleased be assured that this decision was not taken lightly and was taken with your loved one’s best interests at heart. We continue to review the current situation daily and you will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.

Staying in communication with your relative

During this period of closure, we have arranged for regular communication for relatives and their loved ones using electronic means, including Facetime, WhatsApp, Skype and mobile telephone calls. To ensure continuity we have allotted regular time slots for families and for those who do not have mobile phones, regular calls are made to relatives via landline to update them of their loved one’s wellbeing.

What are you doing to minimise the risk of infection?

Following government guidelines on hygiene best practices we have been proactive in sourcing the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all our staff. We already maintain robust cleaning procedures to ensure that our home always remains clean throughout, although we have increased cleaning measures in areas that present a higher risk such as door handles, handrails, dining and kitchen areas and bathroom facilities. With the additional proactive measures we have put in place, we are confident that under the current circumstances that it will help to reduce the risk and ensure both resident and staff’s safety and wellbeing.

Are you accepting new admissions?

To reduce the risk of Coronavirus infection within our home, we are assessing all new resident admission requests received on an individual basis, with any pre-admission assessments now being undertaken remotely.

A robust procedure is in place relating to new admissions, whereby we require documentation confirming a negative COVID-19 test result on arrival, and a further negative test result after completing the appropriate isolation period in line with government guidelines.

We believe that by taking these additional measures it will continue to help ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing.
